Principal’s Update
I’m excited to let you know that I’ll be continuing as Principal at Pittsworth State School through to the end of Semester 1, 2026.
It’s a real privilege to be part of this wonderful school community, and I’m looking forward to working alongside our students, staff, and families as we keep building on the great things already happening here.
Thank you for your ongoing support – I’m excited about what we can achieve together.

Homework Centre for Years 3-6 students
The Department of Education has funded our Homework Centre for another 12 months for which we are truly grateful. Homework is an important part of every child’s education but finding time to help children get their homework done can be a challenge for busy families. Homework Centres provide a supervised and suitable learning environment in which students can complete their homework before they go home.
Mrs Fletcher and Miss Edwards manage our Homework Centre each Wednesday from 3pm – 4.15pm in the Library for students in Years 3-6.
If you would like your child to attend Homework Centre, please contact a member of the Admin Team or email admin@pittsworthss.eq.edu.au

Sporting News
Wayne Beeston Shield
On the 20 August, 21 of our students plus students from St Stephens, Millmerran and Leyburn went into St Mary’s to compete in the Wayne Beeston Shield. There were two divisions under 10s and under 12s.
You couldn’t have asked for worse weather, it was drizzling, windy and cold. Students got out there and gave it their all. Our Under 12s won their first 2 games but went down in their last, knocking them out of the competition. They all played so well and showed excellent sportsmanship.
Our under 10s came away winning all three games so they were in the Grand Final. On Thursday, 28 August, they went up against Mary McKillop and what a game. The game was played over 2 x 20-minute halves. At half time the Pittsworth team led 4 tries to 2. Mary MacKillop came out in the second half scoring the first 3 tries to lead the game 5 to 4. With 3 minutes to play the score was tied up 6 tries apiece. Pittsworth scored the final two tries to take out the win, 8 tries to 6.
The under 10s team went to Brisbane on the 12 September where they represent the Darling Downs. The team should be proud of these efforts and for getting out there and representing our district in such a positive manor.
Thank you to Mrs Klein for coaching the Under 10s, Mrs Cherry for managing the team in Brisbane, Riley Suell for refereeing the final, Mason Fletcher and Noah Trott for being the touch judges at the final. Thank you to all our parents for travelling and supporting our kids. Big thank you to our students for representing our school and displaying such great sportsmanship.
Toowoomba Netball Gala Day
On Wednesday the 27 August, 22 students went into Toowoomba to play in the Netball Gala Day.
Team B competed in the Championship division. They were up against the best of the best. Out of the 6 games they played they only lost 2. Team B came 3rd in their pool and went against Glennie in the finals. It was an extremely hard final, even though they didn’t come away with a win, they didn’t give up and should be proud of their efforts.
Team A competed in the Challenge division. They were up against some trough teams; they won 4 out of the 6 games. They were also 3rd in their pool, playing St Stephens in the final and we won! Great effort by all students!
For most students they had only learnt the game this term, Ms Will is extremely proud of you all.
Thank you to Tori K and Ariana S for umpiring, Mrs Klein for helping with Team A and our parents for travelling in and supporting our students.
Junior Athletics Carnival
Thank you to our beautiful staff! Thank you to Mrs Price, who came out to help out the morning of the carnival, even though she was on class. Thank you to our teachers and teacher aides and the efforts they have put in for our sports carnival to make it a great day. I can’t thank Mr Beattie enough for all the preparation and last-minute calls that I make him run around and do.
Thank you to Bottlebrush Café for coming and supplying everyone with yummy food and drinks. Thank you to all the parents and grandparents that turned up to support and cheer on our students. Thank you to our students. So many positive vibes on the day. It was so lovely to see everyone with smiles on their faces and cheering each other on.

Father’s Day
Our Father’s Day stall and raffle was a great success! A massive thank you to the mums that took on the massive job of purchasing the gifts, setting up the stall and assisting the student’s in making their purchases. We hope all our special blokes enjoyed their carefully chosen gifts.
Congratulations to our raffle winners. A special thank you to the following businesses that donated prizes:
- Empire Theatre Toowoomba
- Raff Group
- McLean Farms
Sprints
Thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers that helped with setting up/dismantling the Sprints fencing. This is always a massive job every year and we always need as many hands as possible. The Sprints Committee provide the PSS P&C with payments for our efforts which we are able to put towards our school. Without volunteers to take on the task, our school would miss out on this extra income. If you weren’t able to assist this year, please consider helping out next year!
VOLUNTEERS – MANDATORY TRAINING
There is a small amount of mandatory training that must be completed in order to volunteer at school. It is quite quick to complete (10-15 minutes). Please sign the form at the back and return to the school office.
NEXT P&C MEETING
Our next general meeting will be held at 6.30pm, Thursday 9th October in the Pittsworth Function Centre.
